3 Big Solar Trends to Watch in 2015

The solar panel and solar mounting industry has been growing steadily over the past decade, but 2015 looks to be an especially exciting year. As solar researchers develop new, better technologies and the marketplace becomes more open to unique solar installations, the age of solar energy generation continues to move forward.

As we venture deeper into 2015, be on the lookout for these three major rising trends:

  1. Solar Modules Are Becoming High-Efficient. What this means is that high-efficiency modules, which generate a greater amount of power based on the same amount of input, are starting to become more cost-effective and easier to obtain. In 2015, we anticipate this change making noticeable strides, allowing solar energy to be more affordable than ever.
  2. Net Energy Metering Is Spreading. Net Energy Metering (NEM) is a system of energy billing that provides rewards for energy consumers with photovoltaic installations. Where NEM was once limited to the United States, other countries are now starting to adopt the system. In 2015, this could help spread solar panel installations on an international scale.
  3. Installation Costs Are Dropping. Thanks to the increasing efficiency of technology and onsite planning, the cost of solar installations will drop significantly in 2015. This means that both industrial and residential customers who never before considered solar installations now have a chance to do so—and stay in budget.
